2012 is now upon us and, no matter what the Mayans reckon, I'm determined it will be a good one. On holiday in 2006 we visited a Mayan temple in Belize where we were told that the people were, on average, 4'6" in height and deliberately deformed themselves from an early age by strapping boards to the childrens' foreheads to flatten them, hung objects in front of the little kiddies' eyes to make them go crossed and, once teeth were established, filing them down to sharp points. All in an effort to make themsleves more frightening to their foes. All sounds a bit daft to me so forgive me if I pur a bit of scorn on their 2012 predictions!
Anyhoo, Hogmanay celebrations were not too excessive that I was in any sort of shabby shape this morning so once everything was sorted in the house I set off for 3 good laps of Moel y Ci. I've read about one guy who wore Sealskinz during MdS so I gave that a go as they've always served me well on Cambrian Patrol and the like. The run turned out to be very comfortable so I am thinking that following another couple of test runs, I may go with one size up in shoes and Sealskinz over Injinji liners and a third pair over the top until feet start to swell.
Here's hoping that everyone had a good night last night and wishing you all well for the coming year.
