The second chamber session took place on Friday afternoon and for the most part was much the same as the first. I still had to be cooled down a couple of times due to core temp hitting the risk assessment mark. Adrian admitted that this was a pity as I was obviously coping very well with the conditions. This was indeed true as, although I was sweating as much as would be expected, my performance over the 2 hours was pretty good. Final session is tomorrow morning and then I will likely do a couple of very light 10ks on Tuesday and Wednesday wearing my Softie jacket. Every little helps as they say in a certain large corner shop!
A couple of plus points from session 2 were that my heart rate was lower than in session 1, which is good and I learned that one bar of battery life on my MP3 was enough to last 2 hours so I won't need as many spares as I first though!!
As I type this it is now almost exactly 1 week to the start gun / siren / hooter signifying the end of over 3 years preparation, planning and training and the start of the biggest (physical) challenge of my life - so far!
I'm looking forward to meeting up with people I've happened across on Facebook and who have commented on my blog, you know who you are. Hope you are all beer monsters for the after race party!
Danny, check out the Pico Freeloader link on my blog; it charges my mp3 player on the run (pics on the blog too) www.mdsnewbies.blogspot.com
